2009 Honda Accord

That summary is from our January 1983 issue, when the Accord won a spot on our first 10Best Cars list. And it’s clear, 27 years later, that the praise still applies.
It’s equally clear that the Accord has evolved steadily to maintain its position as a mainstream pacesetter. From the compact sedan that won inaugural 10Best honors, the Accord has gone through seven generations en route to today’s coupe and sedan lineup, cars that are much bigger, much more refined, and much more powerful than their honorable ancestor. Indeed, in its makeover for the 2008 model year, the Accord sedan expanded to large-car status according to the EPA definition, which is based on a car’s interior volume.

2009 Chevrolet Corvette

The big news in the Corvette camp this year is obviously the ZR1 supercar, the 638-hp rocket that’s the capo di tutti capo of Vettes. We’re seduced by Chevy’s new missile, but we can’t include it in our 2009 awards because it has a base price that’s some 34 grand north of our maximum base price of $71,000 (2.5 times the average transaction price for all light-duty vehicles sold in 2008). That cutoff (down $1000 from 2007) also eliminates the Z06, an ’08 listee whose ’09 base price has crept over the line

2009 Cadillac CTS / CTS-V

Last year, the redesigned CTS was the second Cadillac to win a 10Best Cars award (the first was the 1992 Seville), and this year, it’s the first Caddy to become a 10Best repeater. We were impressed with its dynamics, its upscale interior, the performance of its optional 304-hp, 3.6-liter direct-injection V-6, its slightly softened but still distinctively edgy styling, its overall refinement, and the fact that it offers manual as well as automatic transmissions.

am just looking at a picture of the Ferrari GG50 concept car in the red design. This is different from any other supercars I have seen before. The concept car has almost a sporty look that separates it from other manufacturers such as Lamborghini or Porsche. The red color I am looking at is also strongly enticing. There are some supercars that you look at and you just think that you have seen it before and it is nothing special and usually all the time these sports cars are in a solid color of red, orange or yellow but with the different paint job of this car it really brings out the stronger themes to this supercar.

That´s the effect concept cars have towards people, and not surprisingly when Acura introduced its 2007 Advanced Sports Car Concept during the 2007 North American International AutoShow it seems that time itself stopped for a minute in surprise.

Audi R-Zero specs

So if you think all environmental friendly hybrids and other cars are boring and attractive, the 2006 Audi R-Zero Concept car will definitely change your mind. The original concept was a product of the minds of an ingenious group of students hailing from the International School of Design, ISD France. The R-Zero sports car will be equipped with four electric in-wheel motors as its engine. Each engine will be powered by lithium-ion 800 volts batteries that are capable of releasing great mass of power, not less than 450 watts/kg in fact. The supercar will have an estimated weight of 2.2 tons (4,850 lbs), given that the batteries will weigh around 1,200kg and the four engines around 340kg, plus the body weight and accessories. Torque is expected to reach 2,168 lb-ft while horsepower is set at around 1,091 hp at 12,900 rpm. With individual batteries providing power to each individual engine, the sports car is estimated to go at a top speed of 460 km/h (286 mph), with the fast car capable of going from 0-100 km/h in less the 3 seconds. Now, who's going to say that an environmental friendly, electrical-powered car is sissy?

Orca SC7 specs

Orca (much like in Pagani Zonda) uses super-light materials to reduce the weight of this supercar as much as possible. The result is obvious, SC7 weights just 850 kg. Its engine produces 738 ft lbs at 4200 rpm torque and outputs 850 horsepower, which sets power to weight ratio to 1 bhp:1 kg. The production of this Swiss supercar is limited to only 7 automobiles.

The world's best selling fuel cell product

December 8, 2006 Hobby R/C racing enthusiasts will soon operate 1/10th scale radio controlled competition grade vehicles on clean hydrogen fuel cell power. The innovative power unit created by Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies follows the commercial launch of its H-racer miniature fuel cell car and solar powered hydrogen refueling station in June this year. Recently named as one of the Best Inventions of 2006 by Time Magazine, the H-racer is now the best selling fuel cell product in the world, and Horizon’s first step in bringing the world a tangible vision for a viable hydrogen economy. Named the “H-cell”, the new R/C hobby power combines an ultra-compact air-cooled PEM fuel cell system with a scaled down fuel storage unit that can safely carry 20 to 40 liters of solid state hydrogen. Widely available 1/10th scale electric R/C cars will now be able to run on real automotive fuel cell power concepts at speeds reaching 35km/h, good acceleration, decreased hydrogen fuel consumption and increased power autonomy over conventional battery solutions. Designed to fit into the original 7.2V NiCad battery slot, the H-cell is designed as a futuristic power source using light emitting air cooling fans. Not limited to cars, the power unit will also be able to be used to power small boats, planes, and robots.

An American car maker comes in at number 3 with a supercar that sells for the super cost of $654,500 USD. Shelby Super Cars (SSC) out of Washington State say that their Ultimate Aero can reach speeds of 273 mph on the track

The Clubsport version of the Italian/Argentinean Pagina Roadster comes in second place with a price of $667,321 USD. The price will give you 650 hp and car that looks like it should be on a racing track. Pagani is a small boutique supercar builder that makes very few cars each year, so your neighbor probably won't have one.
